happy homemaker

So you don't sew your children's clothes from vintage patterns.

But you can still be a happy homemaker by making their play dough with this no–fail, 15–minute recipe.

Tip: Use just a few drops of food colouring to create pretty pastel shades of peach, mint and lavender, and a drop of essential oil to make it smell nice.

Ingredients: 4C flour 1C salt 4C water 4 tablespoons oil ½C cream of tartar food colouring essential oil (optional)

Method: 1. Sift dry ingredients into a heavy–bottomed pot then add wet ingredients. Stir

Your vintage chaise is from Denmark, so what's your kid doing in Old Navy?

Even the best-intentioned of us fall into the Gap trap, but with the Vancouver-based site www.trendytot.ca every kid could be decked out in cute and comfortable Scandinavian stripes.

Check out the cropped Pirate pants, adorable nautical swim suits and awesome baby one-pieces. There's even boy’s striped beach trunks that come with a swim diaper.

Perfect for a vintage-inspired photo-op—on said lounger.

The vitamin v radar started beeping loudly when we came across local food company Mikuni Wild Harvest that’s been creating waves stateside.

Started by a young mushroom forager, it’s now supplying chefs from Thomas Keller to Masaharu Morimoto with its boutique line of sustainable, wild food products, such as sake-infused North American caviar.

Its Tahitian Vanilla Bean-Infused Maple Syrup was recently endorsed by her highness, Oprah, and we can attest to the pungency of the French black truffles.

Now everyone can partake in the foodie fun with the opening of Mikuni’s brand new e-store, selling the best gourmet gift basket
